A Little About Me

Growing up, I was always fascinated with stories about people.

I read voraciously and had a wild imagination, which lead me to write insanely detailed stories complete with worldbuilding, floorplan layouts, and character designs that would (probably) never see the light of day. What started as simple musings about the way people lived their lives later turned into an active desire to help improve people's quality of living. The key question for me was how. My journey into user experience came with many detours, and I tried on many hats that didn’t quite fit, from law to clinical research, linguistics, and mental health and therapy, before finding the place where I could combine my love of creative expression with my desire to center conversations around people.

I guess in a way, I still wear multiple hats. In my three years of UX experience, I have worked in early-stage startups, edtech, and human resources spaces, and have lead projects in collaboration with academia and industry. I’ve dived into the nitty gritty (we’re talking hex codes and rem units) of design system building, written pitch decks for MVPs, and dipped my toes into digital marketing and project management along the way. My background in various humanities fields supplements my technical knowledge greatly and has given me valuable skills in writing, synthesizing, and communicating my design thinking. I have a deep empathy for human interaction and understand the importance of mental well-being, intentionality, and positive impact, which has helped me contribute a unique perspective to building experiences that feel genuine and personal.

From the moment I watched my first Introduction to UX YouTube video, I knew this was the way that I could best serve my community. I’ve always wanted to tell stories about people. I'm grateful for the opportunity to do just that through my person-centered designs.

When I’m not thinking about design I’m…

  • geeking out over organization 🎨  Minimalistic stationery? Notion to-do lists? Pinterest boards for every occasion? Meticulously planned layouts for my wall decor? Bowls that look like plates that look like bowls? No matter the form, I enjoy making my life functional and aesthetically pleasing.

  • editing videos 📹 Like most people, the pandemic suddenly forced me hundreds of miles away from my friends and loved ones, and making mini compilations of cherished memories was a way for me to keep them close. These days, I mostly edit travel vlogs, but I want to get back into recording the small mundane moments of my life.

  • going on food adventures 🍵 Ever since my oven broke, my sweet tooth has led me around the San Francisco Bay Area in search of my next favorite dessert and tea-forward drink. I have a never-ending list of food places to visit, but I’m always looking for restaurant and cafe recommendations!

  • exploring museums and aquariums 🖼️ 🐠 I find museum architecture fascinating, and what’s more relaxing and therapeutic than a self-care date to see art throughout history and/or fish swimming peacefully? Also, beluga whales are my Roman Empire, and that’s coming from someone who took three years of Latin in high school.
